BookFic Community Guidelines

Prohibited Content

Sexually Explicit Content

We do not allow pornography, erotica, or sexually explicit material on BookFic. This includes detailed descriptions of sexual acts, regardless of whether they involve adults. Romance and fade-to-black scenes are acceptable, but graphic sexual content is not permitted.

Intellectual Property Violations

You may only publish content you have the legal right to share. This means:

• No plagiarism or copying another author's work
• No unauthorized fanfiction using copyrighted characters without permission
• No posting content that infringes on trademarks, patents, or other intellectual property rights
• If you're found to have stolen content, your account will be terminated and rights holders will be notified

Illegal Content

Content depicting, promoting, or facilitating illegal activities is strictly prohibited, including but not limited to:

• Child exploitation or sexualization of minors
• Instructions for creating weapons, drugs, or other illegal items
• Promotion of terrorism or violent extremism
• Content that violates applicable laws

Harmful Content

We prohibit content that:

• Promotes self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders
• Harasses, threatens, or bullies individuals or groups
• Incites hatred or violence based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
• Contains graphic depictions of violence intended to shock or glorify harm

Misleading or Deceptive Practices

• No impersonating other users, authors, or public figures
• No artificially inflating engagement metrics through bots or fake accounts
• No misleading metadata or tags intended to game the system

Required Disclosures

AI-Generated Content

If you use AI tools to write, edit, or generate any portion of your story, you must:

• Clearly disclose this in your story's description. Be sure to check the AI disclosure when creating your story.
• Remember that you are responsible for all published content, regardless of how it was created
• Ensure AI-generated content complies with all other community guidelines

Content Warnings

Help readers make informed choices by including appropriate content warnings for:

• Violence or gore
• Death of major characters
• Mental health themes (depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.)
• Substance abuse
• Any other potentially triggering content

Mature Content

Stories containing mature themes (strong language, non-explicit violence, disturbing themes) should be marked as "Mature" to help readers filter appropriately. While we don't allow explicit sexual content, mature romantic content should be labeled.

Best Practices

Be Original and Authentic

• Bring your unique voice and perspective to your stories
• If inspired by other works, create something transformative rather than derivative
• Give credit when referencing or building upon public domain works or mythology

Engage Respectfully

• Treat other authors and readers with courtesy and respect
• Provide constructive feedback, not personal attacks
• Disagree with ideas, not people
• Report guideline violations rather than engaging in arguments

Maintain Quality Standards

• Proofread your work before publishing
• Use chapter breaks and formatting to improve readability
• Update your serial fiction on a consistent schedule when possible
• If you need to abandon a story, let your readers know

Protect Privacy

• Don't share personal information about yourself or others without consent
• Be cautious about revealing identifying details in your stories or profile
• Respect the privacy of other community members

Respect Copyright in Comments and Reviews

• Don't paste copyrighted material (lyrics, excerpts from other books, etc.) in comments or reviews
• Keep discussions focused on the stories available on BookFic

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

• Content removal
• Warning notifications
• Temporary suspension
• Permanent account termination
• Reporting to law enforcement (for illegal content)

We review reports promptly and fairly. If you believe content violates these guidelines, please use the "Report" feature. If you believe your content was removed in error, you may appeal the decision through our support system.

Updates

These guidelines may be updated periodically. Continued use of BookFic constitutes acceptance of the current guidelines. We'll notify the community of significant changes.
